    MATRIX is seeking Assistant Camp Managers on a rotational basis for projects across Canada in some of the most remote locations for our upcoming season. Due to the remote access to the job sites, resourcefulness will be a key aspect to the success of this role. You are team oriented, motivated, and have an acute eye for detail, accuracy, and excellent skill with prioritizing tasks. This position reports to the Camp Manager.

    This position is fully remote, in camp. Camp location is subject to change.

     

    Life as a Remote Assistant Camp Manager are as follows:

    • Remote work
    • Facilities maintenance, Mechanical operations such as generators, plumbing and electrical systems
    • Camp locations vary across Canada, including extreme arctic climate regions
    • Support Camp Manager on additional duties outside of your position when needed

    Requirements:

    • Basic knowledge in Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical

We are currently seeking Assistant Night Bakers for our MLA camp located in Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut. Start date is mid-January 2025.

    Desalination Water Plant Operator (Fly In - Fly Out)

    In this role, will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operation of B2 Golds Back River project, powered desalination plant. The lead operator will oversee local operations and is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating powered desalination units.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Undertake reverse osmosis plant maintenance and operation including CIP.
    • Track and order consumables, parts, supplies and tools as needed to keep plants operating 24/7.
    • Read flow meters, gauges and other recording instruments to measure water output and consumption levels, bacterial content and chlorine.
    • Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment in water filtration and treatment plants to regulate the treatment and distribution of water.

    Job Requirements:

    MATRIX is looking for experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics that are team oriented, adaptable, highly motivated, with acute attention for details. You will play a key role at our remote camps by supporting the team and ensuring that all of our equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This position reports to the Team Lead and/or Camp Manager. CAT equipment experience required, proficient in CAT ET and SIS Systems. This position will be working in a remote camp in Nunavut. This is a fly-in/fly-out position, on a 21 day rotation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
    • Corrects equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, disassembling, assembling, and replacing major assemblies, components, parts, electrical, adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
    • Familiar with Loaders, Dozers, Excavators, Graders, SnowCats, light and heavy duty trucks.
    • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
    • Oversee vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing.
    • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

    Required Knowledge & Experience

    • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.

        MATRIX is looking for an experienced Second Cook at one of our remote camps. In this position you will report to the First Cook.

        Responsibilities:

        • Prepare lunch and dinner
        • Use seasonal garden produce for meals
        • Prepare baked goods and desserts from scratch.
        • Develop menus that reflect site preferences and dietary restrictions.
        • Maintain sufficient food inventory for site resident numbers.
        • Implement and execute a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP recording methods.
        • Place and receive grocery orders, and maintain sufficient food inventory for site resident numbers.
        • Liaise with grocers for quality, quantity and back orders.
        • Maintain a well-organized and clean food storage area.
        • Ensure the “first in first out” rotation procedure to support food inventory control.
        • Execute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy items.
        • Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
        • Provide kitchen facility orientation and ongoing coaching/training to incoming kitchen staff.

        • Report any unsafe conditions and/or equipment issues to Resort Manager.

Operating and driving a winch truck and front end Loader to assist with offloading and Loading heavy lift aircraft at our project site in Nunavut. We are looking for experienced, safety conscious personnel to support the work required to successfully complete this project. 

            Requirements

            • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is desired, the experience and ability to operate a manual transmission, commercial transport truck is required.
            • Level 1 First Aid Certification or equivalent 2-day course – required
            • Proven experience as a winch truck driver or similar role.
            • Experience working around aircraft is highly desired.
            • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and front end loader operation, and experience is required.
            • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
